The two slain persons of Dawoodi Bohra community, who were shot dead late on Saturday night, were laid to rest in Cantonment graveyard here on Sunday. A large number of people from the community, traders of Bohri Bazaar and Saddar as well as the local residents attended the Namaz-e-Janaza which was offered at the Bohra Jamaat Khana.
Shaikh Muslim Hakeem, who heads the community in Hyderabad, told the APP that the community as well as the family were clueless as to who killed them. "Both men were poor. Murtaza earned hardly a few hundred rupees a day by selling samosa and pakoras while Shabbir was a worker at Jamaat Khana," he added.
The DSP Cant Ali Anwar Shah said that on the directives of the SSP an investigation team has been formed led by Inspector Zulfiqar Arain. "We have recorded the accounts of eyewitnesses." He refused to share the exact number of the witnesses. "We expect to make headway before long," he declared while talking to the APP.
Earlier, the SSP Hyderabad Pir Farid Jan Sarhindi chaired a meeting of the police officials and representatives of the Bohra community at Cant police station. The Federal Minister Moula Bux Chandio and Provincial Minister Zahid Bhurgari expressed condolence and solidarity with the community and assured them of their complete support for their protection and in the investigation.
