ADB-funded projects: Punjab government, ADB officials review progress

The Punjab government and a six member delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) reviewed progress of three ADB-funded uplift projects of $697.8 million in Punjab here on Sunday. Official sources told Business Recorder that a six-member delegation of the Asian Development Bank led by Country Director Pakistan Werner E Liepach visited Planning and Development Department Punjab and reviewed pace of implementation on these projects.
P&D Chairman Javed Aslam briefed the delegation about the pace of work on ADB-funded development projects in Punjab which include: Punjab Irrigated agricultural Improvement Project (PIAIP) and Lower Bari Doab Canal Improvement project of US $227.8 million; Renewable Energy Development Sector Investment Programme of US $200 million and New Khanki Barrage Construction Project of US $270 million.
The officials said that Werner E Liepach lauded the performance of the Punjab government and offered funding for further development projects in Punjab. He expressed his satisfaction over prudent spending of ADB funds worth US $697.8 million on three development projects.
