Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) has started accountability of taking corrupt elements of the company to task through initiating disciplinary action against. Those who will face action are included six senior engineers of Executive Engineers status while sixteen are sub-divisional officer (SDOs).
"We had completed legal proceedings and action against them will be taken soon," told Chief Executive, Pesco, Brigadier Tariq Saddozai (Retd) while talking to this scribe here in Wapda house on Monday. He said that for bringing improvement in the financial health of the company a vigorous recovery drive has been launched in the province. He said that viability of the company and extending relief to consumers is must for bringing the company out of the financial losses.
The Chief Executive, Pesco said that the company announced a special relief package for the three to five years old defaulters. He said that under the package, 50 to 70 percent discount to domestic and industrial defaulters having arrears of one to seven years and above is part of relief package.
Brigadier Tariq Saddozai (Retd), who has assumed the office of CEO Pesco two months back urged both domestic and industrial consumers to get benefit from the relief package and clear their dues with more convenience. He said the company is giving 70 percent discount on arrears age of five to seven years, 60 percent on three to five years and 50 percent on one to three years old arrears.
He said that discount package has been introduced to strengthen the recovery process, curb power theft and enable the consumers to pay their outstanding dues without extra financial burden. The Pesco chief claimed that since he has taken the charge as company's chief, the line losses have considerably reduced and all 1100 complaint cells of the company have been reactivated to address the consumers' complaints within 24 hours.
He said that taking note of 35,000 pending new connections, he has issued directives to Pesco officials to give connection within six weeks and clear all the pending applications. In order to reduce load shedding and line losses, he said that a plan has been drafted to seek funds from federal government for rehabilitation of overloaded grid and power stations, installation of new grid stations and power transformers. He said that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has assured him full support of his government to get funds from the Federal government in this regard. He said that during last September line losses have been declined and recovery had improved.
