Federal Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changze Khan Jamali said that all out efforts would be made for resolving the problems confronted by the surgical industry on top priority basis. The Minister said the surgical industry is the only industry which manages to enhance export volume to US 300 million dollars despite of certain problems including shortage of energy adding that business community engaged with the surgical industry should continue its efforts for increasing the export volumes to billion dollars.
Addressing the members of Surgical Instruments Manufacturers' Association of Pakistan (SIMAP) on Tuesday evening here, he said that Ministry of Science and Technology will extend full support and co-operation for modernisation surgical instruments adding that automation will help improve the quality of instruments. Mir Changze Khan further stated that surgical industry is rendering laudable services not only in export but also in providing employment opportunities to thousand industrial workers. About the establishment of "Display Centre" he assured the SIMAP that all resources would be mobilised for getting funds out of Export Development Fund for the purpose. Undoubtedly, the shortage of skilled labour is a serious issue which needs to be resolved immediately to facilitate the industrial sector of Sialkot.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said it is heartening to note that surgical industry is playing instrumental role in strengthening the national economy despite certain hurdles and expressed hope that SIMAP will achieve its ultimate goals. The industrial sector of Sialkot is playing pivotal role in providing employment to thousand industrial workers and by virtue of this they are earning in a respectable way.
Dr Firdous said that there is a great need of formulating short- and long-term polices for economic stability as well as to keep the economic wheel in full motion.
