Government plans to provide pure, safe drinking water

The Sindh government has planned to provide purified and safe drinking water facilities at each village having population upto 1,000 people in the province under the project of "Drinking Water Hub" Phase-II, while the work for installation and to energise water filtration plants under Phase-I has been intensified to complete it within weeks.
Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo, while presiding over meeting for issuance of Provisional Demand Notes to energise water filtration plants planned under phase-I on top priority basis, at his camp office Hyderabad on Wednesday said the project would not only to reduce health bill of individual and organisation but also to minimise the water related miseries of people of far flung areas.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of each district of Hyderabad Division, Project Director Construction Hesco Umaid Ali Qureshi, officers from Special Initiative Department (SID) and other officers from concerned departments attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo said that order had been issued to the District Administration concerned to submit the list of villages having population upto 1,000 and above in their areas to the Secretary Special Initiative Department, Government of Sindh under the intimation to Special Secretary to Chief Minister Sindh and he himself so that the implementation on this project Drinking Water Hub Phase-II could be started.
While discussing on the first phase of the project, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad said that total 225 water filtration plants were planned in nine districts of Hyderabad Division having at the ratio of 25 filtration plants to each district. During deliberation on progressive report, the meeting was informed that out of 225 filtration plants planned in Hyderabad Division, the payment against the 127 demand notes issued by Hesco has been made while 23 filtration plants have been energised till yet.
Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo expressing his dissatisfaction over the performance for issuance of Demand Notes and energising the filtration plants directed the Project Director Construction Hesco to issue demand notes within two days after receiving the applications from the concerned authority and also to energise the same within a week time. Narejo also directed the officers of Provincial Initiative Department to expedite their work process and apply for demand note for remaining sites of filtration plants and get this first phase of the project completed within weeks.
