Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not so far taken any decision on the applications of Mohammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi seeking permission to take part in the on-going President's Trophy tournament. Reacting to media reports giving an impression that the PCB has stopped Mohammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi to take part in the on-going President's Trophy tournament, a spokesman of PCB said on Saturday that the applications of both the players were received by the PCB and cricket committee of PCB is deliberating on them and the decision in this regard is expected soon.
It may be noted that the last date for submission of 20 player names by their respective departments to PCB was 24th September. Any request, thereafter, in relaxation of rule, and any permission to include another name in the squad of a department has to be sought from the PCB.
Muhammad Yousuf is keen to feature in the ongoing Patron's Trophy to prove his form. The Port Qasim Authority made an offer to Yousuf to play for his side in domestic cricket which he accepted and awaiting approval of the PCB. Sources in the PCB claimed that Yousuf and Afridi would be allowed to appear in the on-going President's Trophy tournament.
