The government will introduce the 'Anti Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2012' in the National Assembly on Monday (today). According to sources in the National Assembly Secretariat, two bills, including one on anti-terrorism and 'The Pakistan Academy of Letters Bill, 2012' had been placed on the agenda of the National Assembly.
The sources said that two calling-attention notices would also be moved in the House for discussion. One is relating to the reduction of profit on two national savings schemes for senior citizens, widows and retirees while the other was tabled by the PML-N, demanding of the government to decrease the commodities prices in relation with the reduction in CNG price.
The House would also continue the debate on the law and order situation, which was started in the previous National Assembly session.
Some important legislation relating to the national accountability commission, Gwadar Port and dual nationality is also expected to be discussed in this session.
In the previous session, nearly 80 percent of the items on the National Assembly's agenda remained unattended. Sources said that the upcoming session could last two weeks and might even continue for a month.
Sources said that the government also wanted to legislate the conversion of death sentence into life imprisonment. The government is likely to introduce a bill in this regard.
