Incoming international calls: LHC extends stay on recovery

Extending stay on the recovery of an additional tax levied by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on incoming international telephone calls, the Lahore High Court on Wednesday allowed a petitioner to become a party to the case. The court adjourned hearing to November 30 and directed the petitioners' counsel to come up with more arguments.
Saad Saleem filed a petition on behalf of Pakistanis living abroad and contended that expatriates had been financially overburdened because of imposition of an additional tax on international calls made to Pakistan. He also pleaded cancellation of the impugned tax being illegal.
