It has usually been other applications that copied Snapchat's features, however, it seems that the tables have turned as Snapchat has copied Instagram's feature of tagging people in stories and snaps.
The Facebook-owned social media app Instagram has the feature that allows user to tag people in their stories by typing @ and the person’s user ID. Snapchat is now going to do the same. The user would have to capture a picture or video and type @ person’s Snapchat username over the top with the text tool, explained Engadget.
Despite criticism, Snapchat CEO not sorry about app’s new update
When the task is completed, the person tagged will be sent a notification. Also, when anyone taps on the name mentioned in the snap, it will automatically lead them to the person’s profile page. There will be a swipe up ‘More’ option that will show the tagged person’s name, handle, Bitmoji, and an 'Add' button so that the person viewing the story can add them too, if interested.
Snapchat also verified to Tech Crunch that it was testing the @ tagging feature but didn’t give out further details. Moreover, the feature is not yet available for everyone.
