30 percent of wheat sowing completed in Punjab

Over 30 percent wheat sowing has been completed in Punjab whereas the government has fixed a target of 16.8 million acres for this strategic crop sowing to produce 19 million tons wheat during 2012-13 Rabi season, senior officers of agriculture department told Business Recorder here on Thursday.
They said Agriculture Department has advised the farmers to use only recommended varieties of wheat to attain maximum output under the "grow more wheat" campaign in the Punjab. Punjab produces about 80 percent of the total wheat which is the staple food of the nation.
