15 women die in Yemen cliff accident

Fifteen women belonging to the same family died in a road accident on Thursday when their vehicle went over a cliff as they were on their way to a wedding, the Saba state news agency reported. "Fifteen women in the same family were killed and 16 others were injured, some of them seriously, when their vehicle carrying 30 women fell off a mountain cliff" in the northern province of Hajjah, it said.
The women were heading from one village to another to attend a wedding when their "overloaded vehicle" left the rugged road and tumbled over a high cliff, Saba quoted a local government official as saying. Because of a poor network of roads, fatal accidents are very common in the impoverished mountainous Arabian Peninsula country.
