The Karachi Port handled 170,699 tonnes of cargo comprising 129,144 tonnes of import cargo and 41,555 tonnes of export cargo including 6,718 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Saturday. As many as 6,718 containers comprising 4,195 import containers and 2,523 export containers were handled during the last 24 hours on Saturday.
The brake up of imported containers shows 1,113 of 20's and 1,,513 of 40's loaded while 0 of 20's and 28 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 869 of 20's and 409 of 40's loaded containers while 10 of 20's and 413 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
The total import cargo of 48,978 tonnes includes 22,036 tonnes of furnace oil; 12,000 tonnes of palm oil; 5,150 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,440 tonnes of MEG; 9,662 tonnes of phosphorus acid and 2,840 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 3,571 tonnes includes 2,248 tonnes of cement cargo and 1,323 tonnes of containerised cargo. There are four vessels namely M T Harsanadi; M V Cape Flowers; M T Olympic Spirit-II and M T Chemroad Quest sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.
A total number of ten vessels viz M V KPS-I; Alican Bey; Powership; M T Harsanadi; M T Chemroad Quest; M V Leopard-B; M V Cape Flowers; M T Olympic Spirit-II; M V Cos Glory and M T Gennaro Ievoli are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, containers meg, palm oil, canola seeds and chemical respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as two ships namely M V Karadeniz Kaya Bay and M V Thor Independence with power ship and cement cargo respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are two vessels viz M V MSC Jade and M V Thor Independence are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and MW-3 Container Terminal respectively on Saturday.
