Leadership of trade and industry has sought time from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf to discuss the issue of prevailing grim law and order condition in the city. They also suggested measures for the improvement of city. The business community has decided to form a committee comprising of representatives of industries, traders and small businesses to prepare a charter of demand, which would be presented to President and Prime Minister.
They urged the President and Prime Minister to meet business community representative without delay any movement to discuses the issue. Leader of business community and former President FPCCI, S M Munir said that when ever President and Prime Minister hold meeting on issue of law and order, governor, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Home secretary, IG, Commissioner and other high official participate in these meetings while they ignore business community to participate in such meeting.
He emphasised the need of strengthening unity among business community to impress upon the government to take practicable measure to improve law and order condition in the city. It is needed that the government should take stringent measures to maintain law and order in Karachi in order to keep economy's wheel rolling. Law and order is a joint issue of all the trade and industrial bodies as the golden age giving industry and trade is at the verge of collapse. He said that the political leaders should give up their differences and take measures to improve city condition.
He expressed that on demand and suggestion of business community governor Sindh is taking all possible steps to improve law and order in the city and added that federal government should also take measure to save the city from criminals. Meanwhile, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Haroon Agar expressed satisfaction over the measures adopted by the governor Sindh to improve law and order in the city has started yielding result. He said the chamber received no complaint from old market areas of threat of extortion of money, kidnapping for ransom etc, in last few days.
