Ongoing strike of doctors of the government hospitals across Balochistan including Quetta on Friday entered into 38th consecutive day to protest against kidnapping of doctor Saeed Ahmed Khan and withdrawal of cases registered by the police against them.
The doctors have vowed to continue their strike until the dismissal of cases against them along with the fulfilment of their demands. The emergency services remained suspended in all public hospitals for the fifth consecutive day while the provincial government has sealed all private hospitals. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Nursing Federation announced to support doctors' strike. However, they continued their services in public hospitals due to Muharram.
Due to the absence of doctors, patients are forced to move to other provinces for treatment. The strike is being observed on the call of the Pakistan Medical Association (Balochistan) which was given after the abduction of Dr Saeed Ahmed Khan, an eye specialist and Head of LRBT Hospital, on October 16 from Saryab Road in the provincial capital.
