The unabated targeted killings on Thursday continued as seven more persons including three senior workers of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) and a couple in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the metropolis. According to police and rescue sources, at around 1:15pm, senior leadership of MQM-H came under armed attack when they were travelling in a taxi (JL-2085) in the limits of Sharafi Goth police station.
Police said the armed ambush was witnessed near Attock petrol pump located in Future Colony, Landhi that left Zafar Qaimkhani, 50, vice chairman MQM-H, Aleem Khan, 53, son of Abdul Latif Khan, secretary information, Qadir Jilani, 45, member central committee MQM-H and a taxi driver killed.
The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities. Chief MQM-H Afaq Ahmad during his visit to the hospital condemned the killings and urged the government to take responsible persons to task on immediate basis else MQM-H would announce its line of action.
Couple killed: Similarly, unidentified armed men sprayed a volley of bullets on a car (G-3325) at Teachers Colony in the limits of Saachal police station. Resultantly, a Shia couple sustained fatal bullet wounds and died on spot. Police said the victims, who were identified as Dr Iqbal Hussain, 30, son of Mukhtiar Hussain and Dr Dilshad Fatima, 30, wife of Dr Iqbal Hussain. Police said the deceased, who left one and a half years old baby, were the resident of Block 20, F.B area. Moreover, the police said Dr Iqbal was radiologist and was working in Kiran Hospital while his wife was general physician in JPMC.
Following the arrival of their bodies at Ancholi after legal formalities, tension prevailed in area and its other surrounding areas where enraged protestors took to streets and resorted to heavy aerial firing that led the suspension of all commercial and social activities. Another man namely Allah-Datah son of Ramzan was gunned down near Mandi Bus stop located in SITE area. Police said the victim might have been targeted on personal ground as he had no political or religious affiliation. No case was registered till filing of this report.
