TEVTA employees asked to call off strike

Spokesman of Punjab government said that while accepting the genuine demands of TEVTA employees, 32% increase was made in the salaries of TEVTA employees by the provincial government on May 01, 2012, but now some politically motivated elements gathered in front of GOR on December 03, which is an illegal act. However, he said, taking a lenient view, Punjab government gave a hearing to the representatives of the protestors on Tuesday.
The spokesman made it clear that the genuine demands, if any, of the agitators will be considered only if they called off their illegal and unlawful strike. He said that a handful of striking employees should not try to create law and order problem. The spokesman said that 95% TEVTA employees are performing their duties and only some elements are trying to provoke them for achieving their political interests.
