Punjab government is providing tractors to young growers across the province on subsidy under 'green tractor scheme' to increase mechanised farming for maximum yield and attaining self-sufficiency in food. This was stated by the PML-N MNA Mian Marghub Ahmad while presiding over a meeting in the Agriculture House here on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by the EDO (Agriculture) Lahore, representatives of city district government Lahore and others.
He said process of providing subsidised tractors to growers of Lahore district under the scheme is progressing swiftly. He said in all 790 tractors have been allocated for Green Tractor Scheme Lahore out of which 550 tractors have already been given to the farmers while provision of rest would be completed at the earliest.
He said total value of subsidy given on these tractors for Lahore district is Rs 158 million and 376 tractors has been given to growers from Lahore Cantonment and 414 to the growers of Lahore city. Mian Marghub stated that the provincial government has given 20,000 tractors during last two years bearing a collective subsidy of Rs 4 billion at the rate of Rs 200,000 per tractor.
