Right of vote for expatriates: LHC moved

A bar member has approached the Lahore High Court seeking "right to vote" for Pakistani expatriates. Petitioner, Shahid Pervez Jami, stated that Representation of People Act 1976 allowed the expatriates to cast votes in elections but the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had temporarily suspended the right, the petitioner termed it is violation of their fundamental rights. He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the ECP to allow the expatriates to caste vote in the upcoming general elections.
