The Election Commission of Pakistan has taken serious notice on Wednesday of incessant firing with lethal weapons at the houses or deras of the winning candidates in the recent bye-elections of various constituencies. In this regard, an FIR has been registered against the persons who resorted to firing in Sialkot of which three accused have been arrested and weapons recovered from them.
The Provincial Election Commissioner, Punjab has also been directed to contact the Chief Secretary, Punjab, DCOs of the respective cities to lodge First Information Reports (FIR) against the miscreants involved in firing which caused harassment, fear and injury to one person. Furthermore, the miscreants of the other constituencies would be arrested for violating section 144 Cr. P.C. as well as causing harassment and fear among the Public and action shall be initiated for registration of FIRs against the remaining culprits.
A letter has been sent to various TV channels to sending footage of the firing, caught on camera, to the ECP. In addition, a meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan is scheduled at Karachi on Friday to discuss recent bye-elections in Punjab and Sindh, issue of dual nationalities, electoral rolls as well as delimitation of Karachi constituencies in the light of Supreme Court judgement, and some other important administrative matters.
