Pepsi and Lays has sponsored one of the most contemporary and critically acclaimed play of modern times, 'God of Carnage'. This play, originally written in French by Yasmina Reza and adapted in English by Christopher Hampton, is being staged in Karachi after its successful Pakistani premier in Islamabad.
Directed by Nida Butt, a Karachi based theatre director, the play stars local stage actors including Nida Butt, Sanam Saeed, Faraz Lodhi and Momin Zafar. This satirical comedy is about two pairs of parents, who are meeting to discuss in a civilised manner, a fight that took place between their kids. However, as the play goes on, the parents become increasingly childish, resulting in the evening devolving into chaos.
'God of Carnage' definitely delivers the cathartic release of watching other people, falling victim to their own stupidity. A study in the tension between civilized surface and savage instinct, this play is itself a satisfyingly primitive entertainment with an intellectual veneer. The play was a success in its original language, and has been equally acclaimed in its other English-translated productions around the world. This wonderful play has also been adapted into a film, featuring Jodie Foster and Kate Winslet as the female leads.
Pepsi and Lays has taken this opportunity to be a part of this popular play. As the major sponsor of the production, Pepsi brands have been, in a fun manner, integrated into the content of the comedy, which starts out slowly until it begins streaking down the road, hollering at the top of its lungs. Pepsi and Lays sponsored free passes have also helped in spreading the joy of this wholesome entertainment, which has taken Karachi by surprise through its brilliance of wit and funny portrayal of human characters.-PR
