Asif warmly welcomed at Faisalabad

The newly-crowned world snooker champion, Muhammad Asif was warmly welcomed by the citizens of Faisalabad, his family relatives and sports organisations when he arrived here at Faisalabad Airport. He was garlanded and hugged by the crowned when he came out from the airport. The citizens greeted him on his winning glory and shouted slogans in favour of him. They were carrying banners congratulating the champion for bringing laurels to the nations.
The hero of the nation, Muhammad Asif was brought in a welcome procession from Airport to Zila Council Chowk where DCO Waheed Akhtar Ansari received him. Divisional Sports Officer Mian Zubair Ahmad, District Sports Officer Tariq Nazir and other staff of the sports department were also present on the occasion. The DCO congratulated Muhammad Asif on his remarkable success and gave him a cheque of Rs 0.1 million as prize from City District Government and awarded him with honorary membership of prestige Chenab Club while Chief Minster Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had already announced cash award of rupees one million for him.
The DCO also announced the establishment of Snooker Training Academy at Faisalabad with the consultation of Muhammad Asif. He announced that the road of Asif's residence at Kausarabad would be named as Asif road. Expressing his views, DCO Waheed Akhtar Ansari said Muhammad Asif had lightened the name of Pakistan by winning world championship of snooker and his success would inspire youngsters in the field of sports.
He said the nation was proud of his victory. He announced that a mega reception would be hosted by the citizens of Faisalabad very soon in the honour of hero of Pakistan Asif and he would be awarded more prizes by Faisalabadies. Jubilant Asif thanked God and said he had won championship by the prayers of the nation and expressed his commitment to play professional games at world level. The champion was also brought at Chowk Ghantaghar and people lifted him on their shoulders besides throwing the rose petals on him.
