Admissions in AIOU to begin from tomorrow

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold admissions for MSc (Hons), MS/M.Phil and PhD programmes from December 10 across the country simultaneously. This was announced by Dr Hamid Khan Niazi, Director Board of Advance Studies and Research (BASR), AIOU.
Director BASR said that the admissions of PhD programmes (on MS/M.Phil basis) would be offered in distance, non-formal and continuing education, secondary teacher education, education planning and management (EPM), special education, science education and agricultural extension.
He said that the admissions of MS/M.Phil programmes would be offered in distance, non-formal and continuing education, secondary teacher education, educational planning and management (EPM), special education, science education, computer science, statistics, physics, environmental design, urdu, economics, management sciences and Pakistani languages and literature. He said that MSc (Hons) would be offered in rural development, livestock management and agricultural extension.
Prospectus and admission forms, he said would be obtained from the university website www.aiou.edu.pk for which Rs 500 would be charged as processing fee. M.Phil 1st division 3 GPA in the relevant subject and must have passed NTS GAT (subject) test with 60 percent marks is eligibility for PhD admissions while MSc 2nd division and must have passed NTS GAT (General) test with 50 percent marks is eligibility for admissions of MSc (Hons), MS and MPhil programmes, he added.
Dr Hamid Khan Niazi said that NTS GAT (General /Subject) results are valid for two years. Students who have passed the test within this period and did not get admission can also apply, he asserted. He said that NTS will conduct special test on December 30 for those who have not yet passed the test. The last date for registration is December 21.
