Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan, said that code of conducts would be strictly implemented in the next general elections. He said that all the parties would follow the code of ethics in the constitutional manner. Talking to Pakistan Television, he said that no body is above the law in the country.
He said that ECP had shared election code of ethics with all the political parties.
He said that the election commission had given Magistrate powers to all Presiding and Returning Officers (PO) who will be appointed to perform duties in the polling station. He said that ECP will also conduct training and workshops for the staff members. Secretary ECP said that strict action would be taken against the people for violating laws and code of ethics during general elections.
Replying to a question, he said that ECP had noticed the activities in the recent by elections. To another question, Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan said that a meeting would be held under Chief Election Commissioner to review the election code of conducts. He said that ECP would ensure the next elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.
