Chairman of Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party Dr Qadir Magsi on Sunday called for fresh delimitation of constituencies and door-to-door biometric verification of voters in Karachi. Talking with media persons at the local press club, he said that free, fair and transparent elections could not be expected during this government's tenure.
However, he said, at least 60 percent fairness and impartiality could be ensured if the polls were held under a care-taker set up.
Ruling out the possibility of talks with the PPP, Dr Magsi said that talks could not be held until it withdrew the duplicitous local government law.
Accusing the PPP of bartering away Sindh's interests, he contended that the people of Sindh had been rendering sacrifices for the PPP for the past 40 years, but today "it is acting on the instructions of the Establishment".
"This party is not the (actual) PPP, but Zardari League. The PPP of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto now lays buried at Garhi Khuda Bux," he said.
The STPP chairman said that the people of Sindh were opposed to the construction of all dams, including Kalabagh dam, on River Indus.
"President (Asif Ali) Zardari must keep in mind that Sindh is not a commodity to barter away." Condemning arrests of his party workers across the province, Dr Qadir Magsi called for immediately stopping the crackdown and said that all arrested workers should be released.
