Two killed in roadside café blast

A cop and a political worker were killed while 10 others sustained injuries in a blast occurred at roadside café in the limits of Quaidabad police station. According to police and rescue sources, a bomb planted in a roadside café 'Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Hotel' in Muzzafarabad colony went off at around 5pm, leaving Sadiq Shah, 48 and a cop Zahid, 40 son of Abdullah killed while 10 others including two minor girls sustained injures.
The bodies and injured identified as Atif Shah, Iqbal, Noorul Islam, Mohsin, Nawaz and two sisters Fatima and Husna were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities and treatment.
SP Landhi Division Dr Najeeb said that it was a planted bomb that damaged the café, two bikes and a pan cabin. He said the deceased Sadiq was a worker of PML-N, who was also the owner of the tea café while deceased Zahid was a cop and deployed in Shah Latif police station. He said that it was premature to say about involvement of any group as investigation was underway. He apprehended that extortionists might be involved in the blast.
Meanwhile, the officials of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) said that the bomb, which was planted in a bag, carried some 3 kgs of high explosive material and huge quality of ball bearings and nut bolts. They said the bomb went off in an open space that caused to have less causalities. They said the bomb had created 1 1/2 ft deep and 2ft wide crater at the spot.
