Senators pay tribute to Badeni, Dogar

13 Dec, 2012

Senators on Wednesday paid rich tribute to their colleagues Wali Muhammad Badeni and Salahuddin Dogar, who died recently, and expressed deep sympathies and condolences over their demise. Senators Wali Muhammad Badeni from Balochistan and Salahuddin Dogar from Sindh passed away last week.
Terming Badeni a great friend, Senator Haji Adeel said that Badeni always gave priority to issues of national interest. "I always found him to be a man of great integrity," he remarked. Haji Adeel said that Salahuddin Dogar had a charismatic personality, adding that Dogar's family had rendered great services for the country. "He left us all deeply saddened [and] may Allah rest his soul in peace," he prayed.
Senator Ghafoor Haideri of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) said that late Badeni always fought for people's rights. "His services for his people and the province will be long remembered," he said. He also paid tribute to late Salahuddin Dogar. Senators from Balochistan urged the chair to elevate the son of late Senator Wali Badeni to fill the vacant seat after his demise.
Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Baloch, who was presiding over the session, endorsed the idea. "I also endorse the idea to pick Badeni's son. However, any decision from the party's top leadership will be final," he said. The senators also criticised the media for not reporting the deaths of the two senators. They demanded of the government to determine why the media, especially PTV, did not report their deaths. Deputy Chairman Senate Sabir Baloch directed the chairman of the Senate's standing committee on information and broadcasting, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, to look into the matter.
