14 Dec, 2012

Taking notice of media reports that some parliamentarians have not so far filed their income tax returns, Pakistan Muslim League President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has asked all the PML-N members to ensure that their tax returns are up to date. As per instructions, if any PML-N member has not yet filed the tax return, he/ she should do it forthwith failing which the party will take disciplinary action against the delinquents.
Nawaz has reiterated that no one is above the law and that filing of tax returns by all tax payers is mandatory. Moreover, PML-N Secretary Information Mushahid Ullah Khan, reacting to statement of NAB Chairman Admiral Fasih Bokhari (Retd) that the country was losing up to Rs 10-12 billion to corruption every day, said this statement should serve as an eye opener for the government.
The PML-N leader said NAB chairman cannot escape from his responsibilities by issuing such like statements. He said the PPP led coalition government is not serious in addressing the issue of corruption which is evident from its act of delaying passage of new accountability law.
