Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) presented the 'Corporate Philanthropy Award' to Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (FFCL) for its extensive work in the social, environmental and educational sectors. FFCL was among the top five companies in Pakistan in terms of volume of donations.
The company's CSR initiatives are a benchmark for organisations involved in similar philanthropic activities. The award was presented by Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, to Brigadier Munawar Hayat Khan Niazi (Retd), at a special ceremony held at a hotel in Karachi. Also present on the occasion were Dr Shams Kassim-Lakha, Chairman, Board of Directors, PCP; Tanwir Ali Agha, Executive Director, PCP, and representatives of UNDP and other award-winning organisations.
After the conclusion of the ceremony, Niazi said: "I strongly believe that economic growth and our ambitions for the eradication of poverty depend upon the energy and drive of business and commerce, directly by creating jobs and indirectly by donating money and using organisational abilities to address social issues." The FFC's corporate social responsibility contributions in the areas of education, health, disaster relief and environment are significant. FFCL is striving to incorporate United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) principles into its strategy and governance for a sustainable business.-PR
