: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) demanded immediate implementation of Supreme Court's verdict regarding verification of voters in Karachi. The demand was made during a meeting between General Secretary PPP Sindh Taj Haider and Amir JI Karachi Muhammad Hussain Mehnati at Idara Noor-e-Haq.
In the meeting, both the leaders discussed issues pertaining to delimitations of constituencies, verification of voters and law and order situation in the city. On the occasion, Mehnati said that JI was the first political party which raised voice against anomalies in voters list at every platform and also contacted Election Commissioner in this regard and then submitted a petition against the irregularities in voters list in SC.
He further said that the peace of city was linked with fair and free elections, adding that JI was ready to cooperate with political parties in this regard. "Target killings and extortion are the issues of every party and we all should play our due role eliminating these menaces," Mehnati added. Taj Haider said that transparent electoral rolls were imperative for fair and free elections. He also informed JI leaders about the subject of a letter written to Chief Election Commissioner Fakruddin G Ibrahim pertaining to the issues of door-to-door voters' verification.-PR
