Mohsen Zafar wins 'Gymkhana Golf Club Championship'

Mohsen Zafar has won the Gymkhana Golf Club Championship that was contested over 36 holes at the par-72 here at Gymkhana Golf Course. Mohsen Zafar dominated the event by playing to his capacity and meeting the challenge of the golf course adequately. From him it was simply the combination of good hitting and superb work on the greens.
Mohsen was the overnight leader and did not relent on the final day also, although for some brief moments Sardar Murad did put up a fight but thereafter faded out and lost his fearsome touch, making it easy for Mohsen to end in glory.
The final scores for Mohsen were 74 plus 73 giving him an aggregate of 147, three over par. As against this Sardar Murad had scores of 76 and 82 with two rounds total of 158 gross and he lost to the ultimate winner by a margin of 11 strokes.
Others who tried to make their mark but failed were Sameer Iftikhar 160 gross, M Ahad Naeem 166 gross and Taimur Shabbir 168 gross.
In the net section Mohsin Rafique won the first net with a score of net 133, Shazar Anwar came second with a net score of 142 and Saqib Ali came third.
Concurrently, the event for Captains Prize was also contested over 18 holes on Sunday and the winner turned out to be Mohsin Rafique with a net score of 65.
In the seniors section A Qayum Rashid won the first gross and ColHamayun Rashid(retd) won the first net. Amongst the veterans Javed Zia captured the first gross and Javed Hamid the first net.
As for the results of ladies section Maryama Khan emerged as the top one in gross event and Ms Maimoona Azam as the best one in net event.
