In line with proposals of All Karachi Tajir Ittehad and FPCCI, the government has finally agreed to provide small traders with arms licences and will install security cameras in different areas," Chairman AKTI, Atiq Mir told Business Recorder. The government has assured the traders to provide them with arms licences on a priority basis, businessmen said on Monday.
Citing his meeting with Commissioner Karachi, Hashmi Ali Zaidi, he said the commissioner has assured him of supporting traders' community of the city. He said a complaint cell at the Commissioner house has been set up. He said the government will relax the 144 section for traders to carry weapons and will speed up the process of licences issuance for them. He said if the traders credentials are proven correct then the government will issue licence within a week time.
Atiq Mir said the government has installed 960 latest technological advanced security cameras in the city's south district. The installed cameras have started working, he said while quoting the commissioner. To a question, he said, despite the city witnessed normality after two days of closure, business activities could not get impetus on the first day of week. "Sales remained low despite expectations," he said. He said the commissioner has also assured the traders of providing latest equipment to police to curb violence at markets. He hoped the city will soon find a permanent peace.
