Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry Advisor (Climate Affairs) Ministry of Defence re-elected as Vice-President UN-World Meteorological Organisation Asia-Region for the next four-year term (2013-2016) during its 15th Regional Session being held in Doha Qatar from December 13-19. Such sessions are held every four years.
Dr Chaudhry is a well reputed international figure in the field of Meteorology and Climate Sciences. He earlier remained elected member of World Meteorological Organisation Executive Council from 2003-2007 and WMO Vice-President from Asia 2009-12. Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry remained Director General Pakistan Meteorological Department and contributed to its modernisation and received National Civil Awards Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2011 and President's Pride of Performance Award in 1999. He is also a Lead Author of Pakistan's first National Climate Change Policy prepared by the Ministry of Climate Change and approved by Federal Cabinet few months back.-PR
