21 Dec, 2012

A full bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday expressed its displeasure over non-appearance of Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Irfan Qadir and counsel for Federation of Pakistan Wasim Sajjad in a contempt of court petition against President Asif Ali Zardari.
Earlier, Additional Attorney General Abdul Hayee Gilani informed the court that the AGP was taking part in protest on strike in pursuance of the call given by the Pakistan Bar Council of which he is chairman. The CJ said the AGP should have appeared before the court as the PBC's strike call was from 10.30 am and now it was 10.00 am. The CJ also expressed displeasure over the absence of Wasim Sajjad.
The court asked both of them to appear before it on December 21. Gilani told the court that the AGP could not appear before the court on Friday. At this, the CJ said that there would be winter holidays from next week and adjourned the hearing for January 14.
