The Punjab Assembly on Thursday failed to take up legislation business, as its session was again prematurely adjourned due to lack of quorum. It may be mentioned here that today's session was called by the treasury benches to take up important bills. The session lasted for just over an hour and during that time only a handful of parliamentarians were present in the House.
During the question-hour session, Rao Kashif Rahim Khan, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, responded to the queries of MPAs. However, most of them were disappointed due to his failure to give satisfactory answers. On a point of order, Humaira Awais Shahid of Q-league told the House that the Board of Intermediate Education had made it mandatory to submit examination forms online, but the online system was down and last date for submission of examination forms was approaching fast. She demanded that the online system should be fixed at the earliest and date for submission should also be extended.
The Speaker agreed with her and directed the Parliamentary Secretary to fix the online problem and extend the deadline. Later, on a point of order, Azhar Gorchani of PPP tried to raise the issue of nomination of two parliamentarians for the national commission on new provinces. However, the Speaker refused to allow him to speak on the subject, which invited a strong protest from the opposition benches.
