PML-N Senator Kamran Micheal has said that the Christian community has been working for development of Pakistan since its inception. He was addressing a ceremony in connection with Christmas organised by Punjab University Christian staff here on Thursday at Center for Undergraduate Studies.
PU Controller of Examinations Professor Dr Liaquat Ali, Resident Officer 1 Javed Sami, Resident Officer 2 Malik Zaheer, Senior Pastor and leader of internal life ministry of Pakistan Anwar Fazal, RT Rev Bishop Corlis America, Sanitary Supervisor Chaudhry Mushtaq and a large number of Christian staff were present on the occasion. Micheal said that we should adopt positive approach to resolve the issues faced by the country today.
He thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for help in organising the ceremony. Dr Liaqat Ali said that we could ensure peace in the world by following the lesson of brotherhood taught by all religions. He lauded the efforts of the Christian staff in the development of the university. Mushtaq thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for supporting the Christian staff all the time. Later, prayers and Christmas cake cutting ceremony were held and souvenirs were distributed among the distinguished guests.
While a large number of Baloch students called on PU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran at his office here on Thursday. PU Registrar Professor Dr Khan Raas Masood and senior faculty members were also present on the occasion. The students raised slogans in favour of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for their support in providing them education in Punjab. Talking to media, Dr Kamran said that if the Balochistan government was doing nothing for their students, then we should come forward and play our role to facilitate them.
He said that around 100 Baloch students had been admitted on reserved seats with free education and free boarding facilities and PU was also awarding Rs 3,000 scholarship to each Baloch student to meet mess charges. He said that the Baloch students would learn from their interaction with them how much they loved them. He said that in the next three years, the number of Baloch students would increase to at least 400 who would play an important role in the Baloch leadership in the future. Talking to media, a Baloch student said that schools and other educational institutions were being been destroyed in Balochistan. He said that they were thankful to Dr Mujahid Kamran who had taken historical and unprecedented steps to provide them education.
