KBP criticises sugar millers

21 Dec, 2012

Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the Punjab government to take notice of the injustices of the sugar millers against sugarcane growers. The Board alleged sugar mills situated in Central, Western and Southern Punjab were busy in looting the sugarcane growers and the district administration seemed to be helpless before influential mill owners.
KBP claimed that it had received complaints from the growers that millers were making unjustifiable deductions and irregularities in weighing cane. Growers had lodged strong protest against these injustices of the millers and urged the government to stop it.
KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussein has also urged the government to take immediate action on injustices against sugarcane growers. He demanded that action should be taken under the cane act against all those mills involved in exploitation of the growers. He termed unjustifiable deductions and irregularity in weighing cane as a criminal act.
