The heads of Customs Administrations of Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) countries would gather in Pakistan on April, 15-16, 2013 to further enhance customs cooperation in the region. Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the Federal Board of Revenue in co-ordination and consultation with ECO Secretariat has decided to organise the 7th meeting of Council of Heads of Customs Administration on April, 15-16, 2013 (two days) at Islamabad.
The 3rd meeting of Sub-committee of Customs experts is planned to be convened on the sidelines of the 7th CHCA meeting. The meeting will review actions on the decisions of previous CHCA meetings and will also discuss the initiatives for further enhancing customs cooperation in the ECO region. The progress on the ECO Agreement for Establishment of the Customs Offences Data Bank and the ECO Agreement for Mutual Administrative Assistance in Customs Matters would also be discussed in the meeting. Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) includes 10 member states namely Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
In order to discuss the preparations and constitute committees to be assigned various tasks and responsibilities, a preliminary meeting is scheduled to be held in the FBR. The FBR has decided to constitute several Committees for organising 7th meeting of Council of Heads of Customs Administration. It included Supervising Committee; Chief Co-ordinator & Focal Point; Co-ordinator & Assistant Co-ordinator; Expenditure & Procurement Committee; Facilitation & Co-ordination Committee; Security & Transport Management Committee; Agenda Finalisation Committee and Sub-Committee of Experts on Customs (SCOEs).
