Shahbaz reviews construction work of modern sports complex

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has visited the under-construction modern Sports Complex at Johar Town, here on Friday, and while inspecting the construction work, directed the concerned authorities to accelerate the pace of project. He disclosed that a swimming pool with latest facilities is being constructed at a cost of Rs 276 million and courts of international standard for tennis, badminton, table tennis and volley-ball are being constructed in this Sports Complex.
He also said arrangements for jogging have also been made in Sports Complex and this project will be completed by January 31, 2013. On this occasion, the Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to also construct a dining hall in the Sports Complex. He said separate facilities of sports are being provided to men and women in this unique Sports Complex.
"The Punjab government has also constructed a similar sports complex in Gujranwala, which was inaugurated by him recently. It has revived sports grounds for promoting positive activities among youth and besides constructing new grounds for cricket, hockey, football and other sports all over the province, including Lahore, gyms have also been constructed with the parks where a large number of youth exercise daily. The Punjab government also held International Sports Festival for the promotion of sports and similar programmes will continue in future as well," he added.
Lahore Development Authority Director General, Ahad Khan Cheema gave a briefing to the Chief Minister about the project whereas Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan informed him about the details of the steps taken for the promotion of sports in the province. Punjab Communication and Works Secretary, DG Sports and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
