Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has decided to approach courts against rejection of its request by Nepra about raise in Karachi Electric Supply Corporation's tariff rates. Managing Director of KWSB, Misbahuddin Farid on Sunday said the courts would be approached in accordance to Article 199 of the constitution.
He said it was only a few months ago that KESC had announced to raise its tariff rates that were also approved by Nepra. Consequently, KWSB approached Nepra with the plea that it was the only agency providing water to the citizens at the lowest rates, anywhere in the world. "We informed the concerned authorities that the biggest water pumping station of the world was operational in Dhabeji providing people water through a network spread over a distance to 250 kilometres, during which the essential commodity is also pumped in three different phases," said the KWSB chief.
