Low water inflow 11 units of Tarbela power station closed

25 Dec, 2012

Due to constant low inflow of water in Tarbela Dam, the 11 units have been shut down, the only three units are functional to produce electricity, which would add to more power loadshedding. "Out of total 14 units of Tarbela power stations, only three are functional now which are producing only 200 megawatts electricity", official sources said.
The current inflow of water into Tarbela dam stands at 18,700 cusecs while the outflow is 15,000 cusecs. The water level in the dam has fallen to 1453 feet. The constant low water inflow has severely affected the power production capacity of the power units due to which the loadshedding is expected to increase further as according to weather pundits there are no chance of rains in near future.
