The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday conducted grand operation against encroachment in various sectors of the federal capital and removed illegally established stalls and kiosks on roadsides. The operation was conducted by Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) in the different parts of the city including sector 1-8 Markaz, Aabpara Market and sector I-9, a CDA senior official said.
He said that the anti-encroachment squads of DMA seized five trucks of goods and demolished a number of stall established by encroachers on footpaths. He said that the CDA has taken action on complaints lodged by the residents of different localities.
The official said that before launching the operation, the CDA' DMA had distributed pamphlets in the different markets and warned the encroachers to remove their goods from the encroached sites within five days for which notices were also served them. After the expiry of notice period, CDA's DMA has launched operation and confiscated huge quantity of good and shifted it to the DMA store, he said. He said that the CDA will also conduct operation against encroachment in the other sectors. The shopkeepers in different markets especially at the Blue Area and Aabpara place their goods out of their shops on the sidewalks, which causes trouble for shoppers, he said.
Official said that CDA's DMA will keep continue its drive against encroachment for long times as the authority have conducted several operations against the encroachers recaptured the place they were removed from. He said the owners of various restaurants located in the Blue Area and Melody Market have also encroached upon the CDA's land and other vacant places near their outlets to expand their services. But, he said, they do it illegally causing problems for the general public. The authority has issued notices to them and will take action against them in the near future.
