By-poll results in Punjab: MQM moves Supreme Court

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has approached the Supreme Court against alleged rigging committed by Punjab government in the recently by-polls. The party through its Punjab chapter vice president Shaheen Anwar Gillani filed a petition at Lahore registry of the Supreme Court alleged that PML-N led Punjab government used state machinery in the by-polls to secure victory for its candidates.
The petitioner prayed to the court to take notice of the illegality committed by the provincial government and direct the ECP to ensure fairness in the upcoming general election.
NNI adds: Speaking to media persons, the counsel for MQM Qazi Mubeen said that not only did the Punjab government use the provincial police as "a terrorist force", but armed members of political parties also roamed freely during the by-polls.
