Government planning to convert Bhitshah into 'International Cultural City': Sassui

Sindh Minister for Culture Ms Sassui Palijo has said that strategy was in the way to convert the Bhitshah into International Cultural City. She said that planning has also been made to establish Institute of Research & Music Academy and an Art Gallery containing seven Urs (themes) of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai's poetry at main National Highway to promote the message of Shah Sahib in effective manners.
This she observed while talking to the media persons at the Dargah of great saint, poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) on the eve of his 269th 3-day annual Urs celebrations on Friday. She said that the work on to translate the Shah-Jo-Risalo into French, German, Spanish and other languages would be started in the year 2013 specially to promote Sufism, teaching of tolerance, love & affection among the nation and international communities.
She said that we can meet the present challenges of terrorism, confrontation only through the teaching and preaching of Sufism as revealed in the poetry of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif. She said that the purpose of holding International Adabi conference on Shah Abdul Latif was to project the Shah Sahib message internationally. She said that the scholars from America, India, Iran, Germany, England, Canada and other countries are participating in this conference and to deliberate over the Shah-Jo-Kalam.
She said that on the occasion 17 books published by her department would also be launched. She said that translation of poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz into Sindhi language was in progress and the complete book in this regard would be launched in 2013. She said that unique type art & handicraft was another cultural asset of this province as such an institute of ceramic (Kashi) would be established at Bhitshah while Cultural Complex would also be further strengthened. While listing the schemes completed by her department at Bhitshah, she said that her department has launched different schemes at Bhitshah which include beautification of Karar Lake, repair & renovation of Shah Latif Auditorium, Shah-Jo-Bagh, Excellence Centre, Bhitshah Rest House and Shah Abdul Latif Museum where 6 new statutes comprising on six surs (themes) of Shah-Jo-Kalam have been erected.
Responding a question, she claimed that in the field of research and publication on Shah-Jo-Kalam and history, the Culture Department has broken the previous records. She said that not only in this field but her department has also patronised all artists, writers, poets, artisans of Sindh and provided financial help to them from the endowment fund. The Sindh Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, MPA Farheen Mughal, Ameer Ali Shah Jamote, Secretary Culture Abdul Aziz Uqaili, DG Culture Manjhi Khan and other were present on the occasion.
