Punjab government introduced "Farm mechanisation" plan aimed at tracking agriculture sector on production lines in the Province. Sources in Agriculture Department told Business Recorder on Sunday that under the plan the government is making adequate efforts to create awareness about the importance and utility of mechanisation farming among the growers of the Punjab.
The basic concept of this programme is to reduce the production cost of the growers and to enhance the per acres yield of the crops through mechanisation farming. Under the programme special attention on the provision of agriculture machinery and agri-tools on subsidy basis enabling the growers to adopt modern technology of agriculture for increasing the per acre yield and to lessen production cost.
As many as 30,000 green tractors scheme has so far been provided on the subsidy of Rs 6 billion to the growers during past four years across the Punjab. The provision of agri-tools and tractors on subsidy basis would pave the way for the promotion and expansion of Farm Mechanisation as well as help in enhancing the per acre yield of the crops. The field staffs of Agriculture Department is holding meetings at village level for creating awareness among the growers about the importance of modern techniques of farming and utility of mechanisation sources added.
