The Punjab government approved funds worth Rs 151.526 billion for development projects from July to December, 2012 against the total annual development programme of Rs 210 billion. According to the half yearly report issued by the Punjab Planning & Development (P&D) Department here on Monday, out of Rs 151 billion, Rs 84 billion were provided to roads and transport development projects including the Chief Minister's Metro Bus project whose ultimate cost might go beyond Rs 50 billion.
The report said that the provincial department working party (PDWP) held 25 meetings presided over Javed Aslam, Chairman P&D Board Punjab and approved Rs 151.526 for 134 development schemes of 21 development sectors of economy. The report said the PDWP approved funds amounting to (1) Rs 2.645 billion for four schemes of the agriculture sector,
(2) Rs 10.065.694 billion for six schemes of education sector,
(3) Rs 3.035 billion for two schemes of literacy sector,
(4) Rs 19.5 billion for eleven schemes of health sector,
(5) Rs 92.367 million for one scheme of mines and minerals sector,
(6) Rs 620.845 million for four schemes of archeology sector,
(7) Rs 1.513 billion for one scheme of youth affairs sector,
(8) Rs 290.500 million for one scheme of information and culture sector,
(9) Rs 1.693 billion for three schemes of special infrastructure sector,
(10) Rs 42.135 billion for 49 schemes of roads sector,
(11) Rs 12,532 billion for 11 schemes of irrigation sector, Rs 2.896 billion for two schemes of energy sector,
(12) Rs 6. 524.459 million for eight schemes of public buildings sector,
(13) Rs 1.539 billion for six schemes of urban development sector,
(14) Rs 460.529 million for one scheme of district programme,
(15) Rs 1. 594 billion for three schemes of regional planning sector,
(16) Rs 42. 730. billion for 14 schemes of transport sector,
(17) Rs 567.483 million for three schemes of P&D sector and Rs 1. 084 billion for two schemes of Auqaf sector. One scheme of DERA sector a sum of Rs 2.331 million and one scheme relating to consultancy sector worth Rs 1.200 million were also approved.
