The popular video sharing company YouTube is testing a new feature that will let the user minimize and watch a video while continuing to browse.
The social media giant is testing a picture-in-picture type function for its desktop app, a feature that was already present in YouTube for Android and iOS. The users will be able to minimize and watch the video along with browsing, reported 9ti5Google.
As this feature is still in testing mode thus, is available for only a few right now. The user would have to play a video and click anywhere on YouTube to navigate away, return to homepage, perform search or view another channel and the video will minimize itself in the bottom-right corner of the screen while continuing to play normally.
YouTubers can now change video backgrounds without green screens
The video controls such as play, pause, replay and watch next clip will be included in the minimized video as well. The name of the video will be showed under the minimized window and a tiny icon in the bottom-right corner will permit the user to access the full playlists.
Moreover, the reports suggest that until now, there is no way to disable the test feature and the user would have to manually close the video. Also, there is still no surety if the social media app will release the feature for all accounts or not or will be a restricted feature for YouTube Red accounts, reported The Verge.
