As Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators are all set to play the highly anticipated first eliminator on Tuesday in Lahore, rain may spoil the party at the Gaddafi Stadium.
According to Metrological department’s forecast, the rain will continue till the evening. If the first eliminator is washed out, then Zalmi will qualify for the second eliminator on basis of better position on table at the end of league stage.
On the points table, both the contenders sit with 10 points each, after winning five and losing five matches in this season’s league stage.
However, Zalmis are carrying on the momentum as they managed to straightened up just at the right moment, after back-to-back victories in their last two games and the Zalmis have finally ticked in all the departments.
The other major advantage the Zalmi have is they will be bringing their entire team for the playoffs, an advantage that unfortunately not enjoyed by Sarfraz’s men.
The Gladiators are visibly weak after the departure of star batsman Kevin Pietersen and all rounder Shane Watson. However, they have brought in former Sri Lankan captain Thisara Perera and Bangladesh batsman Mahmudullah as their replacements.
With just a few hours remaining in the playoffs, let’s hope that weather gets cleared and fans would enjoy an entertaining clash.
