The Mohatta Palace Museum is organising an exhibition of the art work of most celebrated artist of Pakistan, Rashid Rana, on February 17 at Mohatta Palace Museum. Nasreen Askari, Co-Curator and Director of the Museum said that Rashid's work in its multifaceted nature deals with the issue of globalisation, reflects on its impact as well as serves a critique on its inherent contradictions.
Yet transcending the notions of nationalism and regionalism, the art of Rashid Rana is international in its essence and contemporary in its vocabulary. Rashid addresses this aspect of our existence with his imagery, medium and technique. The reality of our times is riddled with contradictions. Duality, contradiction, conflict and contrast mark and map our existence today. The work is part of a global language, which is understood world-wide, yet spoken with a particular accent. Mohatta Palace Museum has been working on this exhibition for over one year and it will be one of the largest solo exhibition of a Pakistani artist till date. Special arrangements have been made for the import of Rashid's works from UK, Germany, France and Hong Kong including a large video wall.-PR
