Chairman of the Oversight Committee on Implementation of the 18th Constitutional Amendment and Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mian Iftikhar Hussein has expressed his deep anger and disappointment over the slow pace of legislations relating to 18th Constitutional Amendment and strictly directed the Administrative Secretaries of the government departments to finalise legislation work on their part by February 15 so as to table it for legislation in the next sitting of the provincial assembly.
He issued these directives while chairing a 22nd meeting of the Oversight Committee on Implementation of 18th Constitutional Amendment at Peshawar the other day. The meeting, beside others, was also attended by the Provincial Minister for Education, Sardar Hussein Babak, Shagufta Malik MPA, Secretary IPC Mushtaq Jadoon and representative of Law Department Shagufta.
The meeting, besides discussing the matters relating to legislation of the 18th Constitutional Amendment, also reviewed the work of the Special Cell already constituted for this purpose. Chairman of the committee Mian Iftikhar Hussein has warned the administrative heads of all the departments to vet its legislation work from the law department by February 15 and present it in the cabinet meeting scheduled on February 18.
He furthered, if any department failed to finalise its work by the abovementioned deadline, its administrative head would directly be responsible for it and action would be initiated against the responsible one. The Chairman regretted that despite repeated directives and memorandums of this forum for the last two years, most of the government departments did not pay heed towards this important issue and the government had no other option other than to initiate action against those heads of the departments who failed in this regard.
