President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said that the interim government would have non-controversial people so that no one could question its sincerity He said consensus would be developed over the interim government and date for elections. The President said polls would be held on time and the interim government would have absolute authority under the Constitution to hold free and transparent elections. He said free and fair elections would strengthen the country. Commenting on his son's political career‚ President Zardari said that Bilawal Bhutto was still young and it would take some time before he assumed all the responsibilities for running the party.
He said being a frontline state in the war against terrorism‚ Pakistan had faced economic complications besides loss of human lives. The president deplored that war in Afghanistan for the past 40 years had created a number of social and economic problems for Pakistan. He appreciated media's role for making these problems public to enable the government to take steps for resolving them.
